UC Davis CounterACT Center of Excellence Projects and Cores

UC Davis CounterACT Center of Excellence

The UC Davis CounterACT Center of Excellence is dedicated to identifying improved medical countermeasures for chemical threat agents that cause seizures in humans. The public may be exposed to these agents through an accidental release or in a terrorist attack. Having better medical approaches for stopping seizures and preventing brain damage will increase the number of lives that are saved, improve the lives of those who survive exposure to these chemicals, and protect the healthcare workers who are involved in responding to these emergencies. The work of the center is conducted as a collaborative effort of the School of Veterinary Medicine, the School of Medicine, and the College of Agriculture at the University of California, Davis.

The work is funded through a research grant from the NIH CounterACT Program, National Institute of Neurological Disorders and Stroke, U.S. National Institutes of Health.
